KARACHI: Flamboyant all-rounder and former captain Shahid Afridi is unlikely for the group stage of National T20 tournament after MRI reveals tear in his right knee.
Afridi confirmed to Geo News that he has been advised at-least seven days of rest by PCB doctors after which heâll have to participate in a short rehabilitation session.
âI have been advised 7 days rest by the doctors, and after that I will have to participate in rehabilitation for 10 to 12 days,â he told Geo News.
The group stages of National T20 tournament will be played from August 25th to September 11th and Afridi was picked to represent Islamabad team, which will be led by Umar Gul.
Afridi, however expressed confidence that he will be able to participate in matches in later part of the tournament.
âI am confident that I will be able to recover before the given time, and I am anxiously eager to participate in the national T20 tournament,â
âWith prayers of fans, InshaAllah, I will be playing the later stage of prestigious T20 tournament,â he added.
Afridi complained about pain in knee after he returned home from England last week.
