ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Saturday expressed his concern over the rising incidents of extrajudicial killings in Kashmir.
He was addressing a press conference accompanied by Organization for Islamic State Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani.
He said that over 80 Kashmiris have been killed in the last 40 days.
He added that he had discussed the Kashmir issue with the OIC secretary. ?The OIC supports the Kashmiri struggle,? he said.
?Pakistan is appalled at the extrajudicial killings taking place in Kashmir,? Aziz said. ?Kashmiris deserve their right to self determination,? he added.
He said that Pakistan has continued to strive for improvement in the plight of Kashmiris and has highlighted their case on global platforms.
He said that an OIC liaison had played an effective role in Kashmir. ?The next liaison meeting will be held in the general assembly in the United States.?
The OIC secretary in his address said that the world can no longer stay silent on the atrocities in Kashmir. ?We hope that a referendum is held in Kashmir. We should not be scared of the referendum. It is their decision, whether they want to stay here [ with India] or there [with Pakistan]?
