DUBAI: An Indian expatriate living in Dubai was only following his habit when he purchased a Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire ticket on his way home for Eid, his lucky numbers, EK521 and 0845.
Returning to Dubai a fleet manager by profession Mohammad Basheer Abdul Khadar boarded the Emirates Airlines flight EK521 from Thiruvananthapuram in the south Indian state of Kerala. Little did he know it would be a near death experience.
It was nothing short of a miracle Khadar told Gulf News when recalling his escape from the ill fated flight that crash landed at Dubai airport.

If surviving and walking away from a crash landing wasn?t lucky enough, Khadar learned that the ticket ? his 17th ? bought on his way to India bearing his lucky numbers 0845 was a winner.
The 62-year-old Indian national four months shy from retiring won the $1 million payout on Tuesday.
Having spent the last 37-years in Dubai, Khadar now plans on moving back to India after retirement to help children in Kerala.
?I am blessed to have finally won with Dubai Duty Free and can?t wait to share the news with my family. If you ask me about my plans, I obviously want to help the children in Kerala who are less fortunate than others and need some financial help and medical support?, he told Gulf News.
